Short Synopsis / Sinopsis Corta:

Nina and Fermin spend the night in the neighborhood where their father works as a security guard. Immersed in a game of lights and shadows, they walk through the dark streets, playing, eating something, and looking for a lost dog.

Nina y Fermín pasan la noche en el barrio residencial donde su padre trabaja como guardia de seguridad. Sumergidos en un juego de luces y sombras recorren las calles oscuras, juegan, comen algo, buscan un perro que se ha perdido.

Nina and Fermín spend the night in the residential neighborhood where their father works as a security guard. Submerged between lights and shadows they wander through the dark streets, play, and eat something. Nina secretly watches the others as if looking at herself in a mirror. The night passes quietly while they are observed by other children from their windows.

Nina y Fermín pasan la noche en el barrio residencial donde su padre trabaja como guardia de seguridad. Sumergidos entre luces y sombras recorren las calles, juegan, comen algo. Nina mira a escondidas a otros como quien se mira a un espejo a punto de romperse. La noche avanza silenciosa mientras son observados por otros niños desde sus ventanas.

Synopsis / Sinopsis:

Nina and Fermín spend the night in the neighborhood where their father works as a security guard. They drift through those dark streets while wondering about a missing dog and a soccer stadium that looks like a spaceship. As the night goes on, they buy something to eat. Nina carefully watches a group of teenagers, a girl and a boy kissing. Those teenagers pique her curiosity as she gazes at herself in a mirror. The neighborhood is in darkness, and there are other children inside their homes, looking out through the windows. Nina and Fermín are there, left to the fate of the night.

Nina y Fermín pasan la noche en las calles de un barrio residencial donde su padre trabaja cómo guardia de seguridad. Los niños deambulan por esas calles oscuras mientras se preguntan por un perro perdido y un estadio que parece una nave espacial. La noche avanza, compran algo de comer, Nina observa con detenimiento a un grupo de jóvenes en un kiosko. Esos adolescentes le causan curiosidad mientras se observa a sí misma en un espejo. El barrio está a oscuras, hay otros niños que están dentro de sus casas mirando hacia afuera por las ventanas. Nina y Fermín están allí librados a la fortuna de la noche.

ANA APONTES

Producer and documentary filmmaker. As a producer, she has worked on more than 15 feature-length documentaries and narrative films, including CRIADA by Matías Herrera Córdoba (2009), YATASTO by Hermes Paralluelo (2011), the Argentine-Uruguayan co-production UNA NOCHE SIN LUNA by Germán Tejeira (2012), MOTO by Gastón Sahajdacny (2022), SOBRE LAS NUBES, and LAS COSAS INDEFINIDAS by Maria Aparicio (2023). These productions have been widely recognized at festivals worldwide. She is also the producer of the WORLD CINEPHILIA WEEK at Cordoba. She directed two short films in collaboration with Sol Muñoz (BACKWARDS y CIUDAD).

Productora y documentalista. Como productora trabajó en más de 15 largometrajes documentales y ficcionales de autor como CRIADA de Matías Herrera Córdoba (2009), YATASTO de Hermes Paralluelo (2011), la coproducción Argentina uruguaya UNA NOCHE SIN LUNA de Germán Tejeira (2012), MOTO de Gastón Sahajdacny (2022), SOBRE LAS NUBES y LAS COSAS INDEFINIDAS de María Aparicio (2023). Estas producciones fueron ampliamente reconocidas en festivales de todo el mundo. Es productora de “LA SEMANA MUNDIAL DE LA CINEFILIA” en Córdoba. Dirigió dos cortometrajes junto a Sol Muñoz (BACKWARDS y CIUDAD).

SOL MUÑOZ

Sol Muñoz was born in Córdoba, Argentina in 1974. She studied Filmmaking, Photography, and Fine Arts. For more than 20 years she has been working in filmmaking as a Costume Designer. Together with Ana Apontes, she has directed the short films BACKWARDS (2014), and CITY (2015).

Sol Muñoz nace en Córdoba, Argentina en 1974. Su formación incluye estudios de Fotografía, Cine y Artes Plásticas. Desde hace 20 años se dedica al cine y la realización audiovisual, especializándose en vestuario y diseño de personajes. Junto a Ana Apontes ha dirigido los cortometrajes BACKWARDS (2014) y CIUDAD (2015).

Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:

The desire to film this story comes from the search we have been doing with the same team on our previous short films “Backwards” and “Ciudad”, to work on the children’s point of view. Trying to capture the present moment, the nature of “being there” in the scene. We believe that this way of filming allows us to create together a way of making films, a possible scene, a cinema that brings us together, that helps us think, a place where cinema and life merge.

La pulsión por filmar esta historia proviene de la búsqueda que venimos haciendo junto al mismo equipo de trabajo de los cortos anteriores “Backwards” y “Ciudad”, trabajar la puesta en escena desde el punto de vista de lxs niñxs. Intentando captar el momento presente, el “estar allí” y “ser” en la escena. Creemos que esta manera de filmar, nos permite crear juntxs una manera de hacer y estar en las películas, una escena posible, un cine que nos agrupa, que nos ayuda a pensar, un lugar donde el cine y la vida se nos confunden.
